Mark Slaughter, MD, board certified cardiothoracic surgeon, won the prestigious Physician of the Year award. The honor is presented to the physician who demonstrates outstanding leadership on a local, state or national level to improve accessibility, affordability and quality of healthcare in our region. Dr. Slaughter’s advancement of procedures in heart transplantation and development of Ventricular Assist Devices (VADs) were noted as key reasons for his receipt of the award.
